Xinhua News Agency:[Global Finance] From Industry Leaders To “Little Giant”—Chinese Brands Shine at South America Concrete Show

The South America Concrete Show recently took place in São Paulo, Brazil. Leading Chinese construction machinery companies such as XCMG Group, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., and Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., along with the China national “little giant” enterprises group Qunfeng Machinery, made a collective appearance.

Xinhua Finance São Paulo, 22 August (Reporter Yang Jiahe) The South America Concrete Show (Concrete Show South America) was held in São Paulo, Brazil, from the 19th to the 21st local time. Leading Chinese construction machinery companies such as XCMG, Zoomlion, and Sany Heavy Industry, along with the China national “little giant” enterprises Qunfeng Machinery, collectively showcased their products, demonstrating the deep integration of Chinese manufacturing with Latin American market demand.

Recognized as the largest and most professional concrete technology and equipment exhibition in the region, this year’s show attracted 720 exhibitors, covered 47,000 square meters, and welcomed over 30,000 attendees. It comprehensively showcased the entire supply chain, featuring products related to concrete manufacturing, components, machinery, and construction systems.

XCMG,a representative of the Chinese engineering machinery sector, has long been established in the Brazilian market.Wu Nan,  the product manager of XCMG Brazil Manufacturing, explained that compared to the high barriers to entry in European and American markets, Brazil and the Latin American region offer broader development opportunities for Chinese manufacturing.

Daniel Sasaki, head of the dealer department at XCMG Brazil Manufacturing, stated that since the industrial park was established in 2014, the company has strictly adhered to local regulations, achieving a localisation rate of over 60% for components, and has established a comprehensive supply chain and service system. Through large-scale production, stable after-sales support, and flexible financial solutions from XCMG Brazil Bank, the company's market share has steadily increased. He said, “Customers ultimately value not just price, but performance, durability, and after-sales support—these are precisely the areas where Chinese manufacturing is striving to improve.”

Zoomlion also showcased its achievements in South America at the exhibition. Zoomlion sales representative Xiang Dianming noted that despite challenges such as high taxes and labour costs in Brazil, the company has maintained growth of 15% to 20% in recent years through continuous product upgrades and localised services.

At the event, Gabriel Carramenha, General Manager of Brazilian engineering vehicle rental company Rentalmix, secured a million-real order from Zoomlion.. He noted that approximately 75% of his company's equipment comes from Zoomlion, and currently, the equipment's lifespan and stability outperform comparable products. He expressed confidence in future cooperation regarding Zoomlion cranes and other equipment, believing that Zoomlion's ongoing expansion not only drives its own development and that of its partners but also injects momentum into Brazil's urban construction and infrastructure upgrades.

Complementing traditional leading enterprises is Qunfeng Machinery, representing China's “specialised, refined, unique, and innovative” direction. As a leading enterprise in concrete block production lines, Fujian Qunfeng Machinery Co., Ltd. has been recognised as a China national “little giant” enterprises for five consecutive years and is also a key high-tech enterprise under the National Torch Programme. Headquartered in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, the company maintains R&D investments accounting for approximately 5% of its main business revenue, holds over 300 patents, and operates 11 overseas service stations worldwide, providing round-the-clock technical support.

“By focusing on quality and service, we have earned recognition in the South American market. A Brazilian customer named Jefferson Salazar Marcos purchased our equipment in 2013, and it continues to operate to this day. He believes our machinery lasts twice as long as local products and is considering upgrading to newer models to increase output.” Zheng Yongxian, Sales Manager for South America at Qunfeng Machinery, stated,“With the economic growth in South America and rising demand for high-performance products, we will keep our focus on this market and work with other Chinese firms to expand further into Latin America.”

In the context of a quickly shifting global industrial landscape, the participation of Chinese equipment manufacturers at the South America Concrete Show not only showcased their strengths in large-scale production, supply chain management, and localization but also highlighted the technological advancements and service benefits of “specialized, refined, characteristic, and innovative” firms in specialized markets. Industry experts emphasize that the needs for infrastructure and urbanization in Brazil and Latin America closely align with Chinese manufacturing, promising to enhance industrial cooperation and technological exchange within the BRICS nations in the future.
